2010 Sewing Reflections

2010 Sewing Reflections

Sew Mama Sew asked some questions on their blog and I thought it might be fun to share my thoughts about 2010 Sewing with you.
  • Looking back on the sewing scene of 2010, what trends stand out in your mind?  Bright, fun colors and lots of paisleys.  Oh, and let's not forget the animals.  Owls, they are still on the scene, along with birds.  Elephants are popping up everywhere too!  This is one of my favorite owl fabrics from Riley Blake from the Hooty Hoot Line!  It is called *Owl Roll Call*!  How cute is that!  You can find it at Fabrics I Love!

  • What were some of your favorite things? (Trends, fabric collections, patterns, blogs? Whatever you really loved.) Well I would be embarrassed to tell you how many sewing and craft blogs I have in my google reader.  Let's just say it could keep me busy for a while!  In fact, sometimes I just have to close my eyes and mark all as read!  But I love to read about new trends in sewing, get new ideas and fun tutorials for sewing.  And of course keep up with all the fabric designer's and what new fabrics and patterns are coming out.  Oh, and don't forget the giveaways!  Who doesn't love a great giveaway, especially if it involves fabric!!  One of my favorite blogs is Sew Mama Sew because they feature so many sewing tutorials.  Another one is Ruffles and Stuff by Disney.  Ruffles are  a huge trend this year and I foresee them carrying over into 2011.
Hope you enjoyed getting to know me a little better!  I will continue this post later in the week.

When the Cats Away, the Mice will Play SALE!

I'm leaving early tomorrow morning (yeah, I should be in bed, but I'm a procrastinator big time!).  Anyway, I'm gonna be gone for 8 days to a sewing school.  I am so pumped!  My friends that don't sew, look at me like I'm crazy.  My family think I'm crazy.  But just to get together with others that truly share your passion is so much fun!  We stay up late oohing and aahing over things we made that day, and of course what school would be complete with buying fabric!  So, we ooh and ahh over that too!

So, in honor of my vacation, I'm having a sale in my shop www.fabricsilove.com.  All fabrics are 15% off.  That make some of them less than $6.00!  Orders will not begin processing/mailing until I return on the 27th.  See my shop announcement for more details.  Here are some of the fabrics on sale!

And there are lots more where those came from!  Buy them up so I'll have room for the new fabrics I will be buying!  See ya soon!  You can also purchase fabrics through my new site http://www.artfire.com/users/fabricsilove
You don't have to be a member to make a purchase!

Summertime Cuties!!!

I wanted to share with you what some of my customer's have been making.  They have been  busy little bees getting ready for Spring and Summer!

Emily of Sewalamode made this gorgeous sundress (well really she made two, for a set of twins!).  It just screams summertime!  Made with my Just Dreamy fabrics from Riley Blake.

Bethany Anderson made these twirly skirts for her 2 daughters, ages 6 and 10 months old.  She says the 6 year old wants to wear it all the time and can't quit twirling when she has it on.  I'll bet the little one will figure out how to twirl really soon too!  So cute!  She used the Pink Fig Patchwork Skirt Pattern from my shop.

Cassie made this Easter dress for her daughter with my Girly Girl fabrics.  Isn't her daughter a doll?  You can find Cassie on facebook at Cupcakie Cutie.  And Cassie's mom took the adorable photo.  Find her on facebook at Memories by Marcie.

The fat quarter Deal of the Week is up and ready for you at only $1.25!!

I've got lots of new fabrics to list, and will be having another SALE shortly in the shop!
